Industry Guide
Assess upper-floor access for the Onchtech 1.5-ton spider crane using its dimensions, 1.7-ton weight, transport requirements, floor capacity and outrigger space.

Upper-floor access is possible only after site verification

The Onchtech 1.5-ton spider crane is a compact crawler lifting machine measuring 2.5 m long × 0.65 m wide × 1.5 m high, with a machine weight of 1.7 tonnes. These dimensions can help it reach confined indoor work areas, but they do not establish whether it can be transported to, or operated on, a particular upper floor.

For building contractors, equipment installers and maintenance teams, suitability depends on the complete access route, the transport method, structural capacity, outrigger support and available working space. The 1.5-ton lifting designation is not the machine weight or a floor-load approval.

Key specifications for an access assessment

Parameter Published specification Site assessment relevance
Machine dimensions 2.5 × 0.65 × 1.5 m (L × W × H) Check doorways, corridors, corners and transport openings.
Machine weight 1.7 tonnes Assess transport capacity and structural loading along the route.
Maximum working radius 6 m Compare crane position with the lifting and placement points.
Maximum above-ground lifting height 6.5 m Check the lifting envelope against ceiling height and obstructions.
Outriggers Manual swing-out with hydraulic support adjustment Verify deployment space and suitable support at each foot.
Power information Honda gasoline engine listed; AC 380 V motor voltage also specified Confirm the supplied configuration, electrical requirements and permitted indoor operating mode.

Maximum radius and maximum lifting height are separate limits, not confirmation of simultaneous performance or full rated capacity at those limits. Use the configuration-specific load chart for lift planning.

Separate access checks from operating checks

1. Verify the complete transport route

A 0.65 m machine width can support narrow-route access, but width alone is insufficient. Measure clear opening height, thresholds, turning areas, ramps and overhead services. Allow suitable clearance rather than treating an opening equal to the machine width as adequate.

If a goods lift is proposed, verify its rated capacity, usable cabin dimensions, doorway clearance, loading restrictions and threshold support with the lift operator. Include any people or equipment that will travel with the crane. If external lifting is proposed, obtain an approved lifting method and manufacturer-confirmed lifting-point information.

2. Assess floor capacity for travel and lifting

A qualified structural engineer should review both the travel route and the proposed operating position. Assessment must consider the machine, lifted load, rigging, accessories and relevant operating forces—not just the crane's 1.7-tonne weight.

Crawler loading during travel differs from concentrated outrigger reactions during lifting. A general floor rating in kg/m² does not, by itself, establish that either condition is acceptable. Floor finishes, slabs, beams, openings, edges and any temporary support arrangements require consideration.

3. Confirm outrigger space and the lifting envelope

The narrow travel width is not the operating footprint. The published outrigger dimensions list 3,600 mm in length and 3,400 mm at the front and rear. Obtain the configuration-specific deployment drawing to interpret these dimensions and confirm the required layout.

Check support locations, boom movement, load travel, operator visibility and exclusion zones. Hydraulic leg adjustment assists setup, but it does not make an unsuitable floor safe. Any load-spreading pads or temporary supports must be selected through the site assessment.

Indoor power and ventilation need separate confirmation

Do not assume the gasoline-engine configuration is suitable for an enclosed floor. Engine exhaust presents a carbon monoxide hazard. Confirm the permitted operating method, ventilation arrangements and site safety requirements before deployment.

The specification lists an AC 380 V motor supply. Ask Onchtech to confirm whether the ordered configuration supports the intended electrically powered operations, together with supply, connection and protection requirements. Optional remote control and torque-control equipment do not replace structural approval or a lift plan.

Information to prepare before requesting a suitability review

  • Access details: route drawings, clear opening dimensions, turns, thresholds and the proposed upper-floor transport method.
  • Structural information: floor drawings, available loading information and the structural engineer's assessment requirements.
  • Lift details: load weight including rigging, pickup and placement positions, required radius and lifting height.
  • Setup conditions: outrigger locations, overhead restrictions, nearby openings and available working space.
  • Operating requirements: electrical supply, ventilation constraints, destination-market requirements and requested options.

Discuss your upper-floor lifting requirements with Onchtech

Onchtech, the machinery brand of Hunan Hongchang Machinery Co., Ltd., offers this compact spider crane with configurable equipment options. Share your access measurements, lifting requirements and site restrictions to discuss the proposed configuration and request the technical information needed for assessment.

Confirm transport feasibility, structural suitability and the lifting arrangement before scheduling deployment. Manufacturer specifications support that review; they do not replace site-specific engineering approval.
