Project Experience
Onchtech’s buyer checklist covers the key pre-shipment checks for a 5-ton crawler spider crane, from ordered specifications and lifting functions to outriggers, optional equipment and shipping documents.

Before an Onchtech 5-ton crawler spider crane is dispatched, buyers can use this checklist to compare the finished machine with the purchase agreement and identify items that need clarification. Agree on the inspection scope, acceptance criteria and any witnessed functional or load tests with Hunan Hongchang Machinery Co., Ltd. in advance.

1. Confirm the ordered configuration

Start with the signed order and approved specification sheet. The 5-ton figure is the rated lifting capacity, not the permissible load at every boom length or working radius; lifting limits must be checked against the load chart for the supplied configuration.

  • Match the machine identification and ordered model to the inspection and shipping records.
  • Check the agreed overall dimensions and transport weight. Reference product figures include a 1.5 m machine width and 6.7 t self-weight; confirm the figures for the unit being shipped.
  • Verify the specified engine brand, model and emissions configuration against the order and supporting documents. Engine choices and regional emissions requirements should not be assumed to apply to every unit.
  • Confirm the boom arrangement against the approved build specification. Product information describes different segment arrangements, so the ordered configuration should govern acceptance.

2. Review lifting and travel functions

Arrange functional checks under suitable site conditions, with trained personnel and an agreed test procedure. Record the configuration and observed results rather than relying on a general “operates normally” statement.

  • Inspect the boom, hook, wire rope and visible hydraulic connections; check extension, retraction, luffing, slewing and hoisting functions within the agreed test scope.
  • Verify that the applicable load chart and operating information reflect the supplied boom, hook arrangement and any selected attachments.
  • Check crawler travel, steering and high/low-speed selection, and inspect the rubber tracks for visible damage or loose components.
  • If a load test is required, agree on the test load, radius, setup, personnel and documentation before testing. Do not infer lifting performance at the stated maximum 15 m working radius from the 5-ton rated capacity.

3. Check outriggers, controls and selected options

The two-section outriggers use manual swing-out and hydraulic-cylinder support. Their deployment area matters as much as the machine’s narrow travel width when assessing access to a worksite.

  • Check outrigger extension, hydraulic support operation and visible condition; compare the setup footprint with the approved specification and intended site constraints.
  • Verify the operation of fitted controls and safety-related functions according to the supplied operating instructions.
  • Identify each option on the order—such as remote control, moment display or an auxiliary attachment—and confirm its presence and applicable function. Optional equipment should not be treated as standard.
  • Note that safe setup on slopes, steps or uneven ground depends on site conditions, ground-bearing capacity and the operating instructions; outrigger extension alone does not establish suitability.

4. Close out records before dispatch

Ask the supplier to identify which documents apply to the destination market and the specific machine. Confirm document names and formats before shipment to avoid treating a general product certificate as evidence for every configuration.

  • Collect the agreed inspection record, machine identification details, operating and maintenance instructions, and configuration or option list.
  • Check the availability and applicability of emissions, conformity or other market-specific documents required by the order.
  • Confirm the packing list, accessory inventory, shipping marks and agreed transport documents against the purchase agreement.
  • Record open items, responsible parties and the agreed resolution before authorizing dispatch.

Make the checklist specific to your order

For a spider crane intended for steel installation, rooftop lifting, substation maintenance, curtain-wall work or equipment moves inside a factory, share the required access dimensions, lifting conditions and destination-market requirements with Onchtech. The supplier and buyer can then align the build specification and pre-shipment inspection scope with the intended use.
