Rental Handover Checklist for Compact Electric Scissor Lifts in Hotel Maintenance
Before a rented electric scissor lift enters a hotel’s maintenance workflow, the receiving team should confirm its identity, condition, operating functions and suitability for the planned access route. A compact footprint alone does not establish that a machine can safely travel through a lobby, cross a finished floor or use a passenger elevator.
This rental handover checklist uses the Onchtech SSL-05DC compact electric scissor lift as a model-specific reference for indoor lighting maintenance, high-level cleaning and light inspection work. Use it alongside the supplied operator manual, the rental agreement and applicable site requirements.
SSL-05DC reference specifications for receiving teams
Match the delivered machine and its documentation to the rental order. The following published specifications provide a starting point; confirm the actual configuration before assessing access, loading or operating suitability.
| Specification | SSL-05DC reference | Handover relevance |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum working / platform height | 6.5 m / 4.5 m | Distinguish working reach from platform floor height. |
| Rated capacity / occupancy | 240 kg / up to 2 people, indoors only | Count people, tools and materials together; verify all platform-specific limits. |
| Stowed length × width | 1.43 m × 0.78 m | Check door openings, corridors and turning space. |
| Stowed height | 2.08 m unfolded; 1.71 m folded | Confirm overhead clearance and the approved folding procedure. |
| Platform / sliding extension | 1.3 m × 0.7 m / 0.6 m | Inspect the extension and verify its permitted loading. |
| Standard machine weight | 890 kg | Verify actual transport weight, elevator capacity and floor loading. |
| Battery / charger | 2 × 12 V, 115 Ah / 24 V, 25 A | Check the supplied equipment against the machine documentation. |
Rental handover inspection checklist
Record each item as Pass, Defect, Not Checked or Not Applicable. Explain any item marked Not Applicable. Do not treat an unchecked item as a pass.
1. Confirm equipment identity and documents
- Match the model, serial number and rental asset number to the order and handover form.
- Confirm that the correct operator manual is available and that identification, capacity and warning labels are present and legible.
- Obtain applicable inspection and maintenance records from the supplier, including any records required locally.
- Confirm the rental supplier’s defect-reporting contact, breakdown procedure and responsibility for unresolved issues.
2. Inspect visible condition before powering up
- Walk around the machine and photograph existing damage. Look for deformation, cracks, loose parts, fluid leaks and damaged hoses or cables.
- Check wheels and tires for visible damage, embedded debris and contamination that could affect movement or damage hotel finishes.
- Inspect the platform floor, guardrails, entry gate and extension platform, including their securing arrangements, according to the manual.
- Inspect accessible scissor components and protective devices without entering pinch points or reaching beneath an unsupported platform.
3. Check batteries and charging equipment
- Check accessible battery connections, cables and covers for visible damage or leakage using the manual’s inspection procedure.
- Record the indicated charge level. Do not assume that a charge display guarantees sufficient runtime for the planned shift.
- Confirm charger compatibility and inspect the charging lead and plug.
- Agree on a charging location that meets the manufacturer’s electrical and ventilation requirements and does not obstruct guest routes or emergency exits.
4. Witness manual-specified functional checks
Have an authorized, trained person perform the checks in a controlled area, following the operator manual and keeping guests and other personnel clear.
- Check ground and platform controls, lift/lower movement, steering, travel and stopping response as prescribed.
- Verify emergency-stop operation and the emergency-lowering procedure using the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Verify the safety functions specified for the delivered machine, including applicable alarms, interlocks and protective systems. Do not assume a feature is fitted because it appears on another model.
- Record faults, warning indications, abnormal movement, unusual noise or inconsistent response. Do not bypass a safety device or improvise overload or tilt tests.
5. Verify the hotel route and work area
- Measure the narrowest clear opening, overhead restriction and turning area along the full route, including service doors and elevator entrances.
- Have the responsible building or facilities representative verify floor suitability, including concentrated wheel loads, thresholds and any proposed floor-protection system.
- For elevator transport, confirm rated capacity, cabin dimensions, door clearance and loading arrangements with the responsible building representative. Include the machine’s actual transport configuration and all accompanying loads.
- Inspect the work area for floor openings, slopes, overhead obstructions and electrical hazards. Establish a controlled area away from guest circulation.
- Confirm that the planned work is within the machine’s indoor operating limits and that personnel, tools and materials remain within all stated capacity limits.
Record the acceptance decision and responsibilities
Keep a dated handover record shared with the rental supplier. Include:
- Hotel, delivery location, date, machine identity and hour-meter reading, if fitted.
- Supplier and receiving representatives, plus the person completing functional checks.
- Checklist results, photographs, charge indication and supplied accessories.
- Each defect or outstanding check, its responsible party and agreed corrective action.
- Acceptance or rejection status, any restrictions, and confirmation that unresolved safety-critical issues prevent release for use.
Separate receipt from release for use: signing for physical delivery should not imply that an unresolved machine is safe to operate. Recheck affected items after repairs and document their closure before release.
Common handover questions
Does a 6.5 m working height mean the platform rises to 6.5 m?
No. The SSL-05DC has a maximum platform height of 4.5 m and a published maximum working height of 6.5 m. Assess the task using both figures and the operator manual; do not gain extra reach by climbing guardrails or placing ladders on the platform.
Can two people always work on the platform?
The published indoor occupancy is up to two people, but the 240 kg rated capacity still applies to the combined load of occupants, tools and materials. Confirm any extension-platform restrictions in the supplied documentation.
Does a signed handover replace checks before later use?
No. Handover records document the machine’s condition at receipt. Continue the pre-use checks, workplace assessments and inspections required by the manual and applicable rules, and report new damage or faults immediately.
