Product Introduction
Plan indoor glass installation with the Onchtech 1.2-ton spider crane: assess access, floor loading, outrigger space, lifting capacity and configuration needs.

Indoor glass installation requires more than a crane that fits through the entrance. The access route, floor structure, outrigger positions and glass placement radius must all support the planned lift. The Onchtech 1.2-ton spider crane is a compact mini crawler crane for restricted-space installation and maintenance work, with a body width of 0.65 m and a machine weight of approximately 1.3 tonnes.

For glazing contractors and project procurement teams, these dimensions provide a starting point—not confirmation that a particular building or lifting position is suitable. Selection should be based on the complete route to the work area and the applicable load chart for the selected crane configuration.

Key specifications for installation planning

The following product specifications help establish an initial fit assessment. Confirm the final dimensions, equipment weight and operating limits for the configuration being quoted.

Planning input Product specification What to verify on site
Machine dimensions 2.48 m long × 0.65 m wide × 1.50 m high Clear openings, turns, thresholds and route headroom
Machine weight Approximately 1.3 tonnes Floor capacity, route restrictions and any elevator limitations
Maximum above-ground lifting height 6.3 m Ceiling clearance, rigging height and required installation elevation
Maximum working radius 5.35 m Actual radius and permitted load throughout the lifting path
Boom and support system Four-section telescopic boom; four manually extended, independently hydraulically adjusted outriggers Required outrigger arrangement, support locations and overhead obstructions
Travel system Hydraulic crawler drive with rubber tracks; travel speed 0–2.5 km/h Surface condition, finished-floor protection and route suitability

Capacity is position-dependent. The 1.2-ton designation is not a lifting allowance at every radius. Maximum height and maximum radius are separate limits and do not establish an achievable combined lifting position. Check the applicable load chart before approving a lift.

Five checks before bringing the crane indoors

1. Survey the complete access route

Measure the narrowest usable opening rather than relying on nominal door sizes. Account for door hardware, corridor turns, ramps and overhead services. A 0.65 m body width can help with confined-space access, but clearance is also needed for controlled movement and maneuvering.

If elevator transport is proposed, verify the car dimensions, door opening, rated capacity and building approval requirements against the actual transported configuration. Compact dimensions alone do not establish elevator suitability.

2. Assess floors and outrigger support

The 1.3-tonne machine weight is only one input to the structural assessment. Travel loads and concentrated outrigger reactions need separate consideration, particularly on suspended slabs, raised floors and areas near openings or underground services. Have the responsible site professional verify support capacity and determine any necessary load-spreading measures.

Rubber tracks do not guarantee damage-free travel on every finished surface. Assess floor protection, surface condition and permitted travel routes before entry.

3. Reserve space for the deployed crane

The narrow travel width is not the operating footprint. Obtain the outrigger layout drawing for the proposed configuration and check each support position against walls, columns, stored materials and pedestrian routes. Independently adjustable outriggers assist setup, but they do not make unsuitable ground or an unapproved support arrangement acceptable.

4. Match the glass load to the full lifting path

Record the glass panel dimensions, weight, orientation and center of gravity. Include the glass-handling attachment and rigging in the suspended-load assessment. Check capacity at pickup, during movement and at final placement—not only at the closest position to the crane.

A glass vacuum lifter should not be assumed to be included. Confirm its compatibility, rated capacity, attachment interface and suitability for the panel surface and intended orientation with the relevant suppliers.

5. Confirm indoor power and operating conditions

Product specifications list an AC380V motor supply and engine configuration options. Ask Onchtech to confirm the supplied power arrangement, electrical requirements and functions available in electric operation. Where combustion-engine operation is proposed, assess exhaust exposure and ventilation requirements before use; do not assume an engine configuration is suitable for enclosed spaces.

Configuration choices for glazing work

  • Wireless remote control: Available as an option. Evaluate whether it supports a suitable operating viewpoint and communication arrangement for the installation.
  • Moment limiter: Available as an option. Confirm the supplied monitoring and limiting functions; these do not replace load-chart checks or a lift plan.
  • Power configuration: Engine choices and customization are available. Specify site power, indoor operating restrictions and destination-market requirements during quotation.
  • Project-specific customization: Discuss boom, control and other configuration requirements before ordering. Any changes must be assessed against the resulting dimensions, weight and operating limits.

Questions frequently raised during selection

Can the crane install glass at a radius of 5.35 m?

The published maximum working radius is 5.35 m, but the permitted load at that position must be established from the applicable load chart. Panel weight, handling equipment, boom configuration and outrigger setup all need verification.

Will it fit through an indoor doorway?

The listed machine width is 0.65 m. Suitability depends on the actual clear opening, machine height, approach angle, turning space and any configuration changes. Measure the complete route before confirming access.

Is a remote control standard equipment?

Wireless remote control is optional. Confirm it explicitly in the quotation and equipment specification, along with any required moment limiter and glass-handling equipment.

Prepare a project-specific configuration enquiry

Onchtech, the equipment brand of Hunan Hongchang Machinery Co., Ltd., offers engineering machinery manufacturing and OEM/ODM/OBM cooperation. For indoor glass installation, a useful enquiry starts with the site constraints and lifting task.

  • Glass dimensions, weight and intended installation orientation
  • Required pickup and placement heights and working radii
  • Access measurements, site photographs and floor or support information
  • Available outrigger space, power supply and indoor operating restrictions
  • Handling attachment details, control preferences and destination market

Share these details with Onchtech to discuss configuration and pricing, and request the relevant load chart, dimensional drawing and operating documentation before final equipment selection.
