Industry Guide
Check ground conditions, floor load capacity, doorway clearance and access routes for the Onchtech SSL-08HD electric scissor lift before delivery and operation.

Before arranging delivery or operating the Onchtech SSL-08HD electric scissor lift, check the complete route from the unloading point to the work area. Doorway dimensions, floor bearing capacity, turning space and surface conditions all affect whether the machine can reach and work at the intended location.

The SSL-08HD has an 8 m maximum platform height and 10 m maximum working height. Its narrow body supports access planning for commercial complexes, exhibition halls and stations, but machine width alone does not establish site suitability.

Reference dimensions for access planning

Use these SSL-08HD specifications for an initial site survey. They are machine dimensions and ratings—not minimum doorway clearances or a structural approval for the floor.

Planning reference SSL-08HD specification
Stowed length × width 2.45 m × 0.83 m
Stowed height, guardrails unfolded 2.38 m
Stowed height, guardrails folded 2.01 m
Standard machine weight 2,150 kg
Rated platform capacity 230 kg
Maximum platform occupancy 2 people indoors / 1 person outdoors
Platform size / sliding extension 2.27 m × 0.81 m / 0.9 m
Outside turning radius 2.2 m
Ground clearance 0.08 m; 0.02 m with pothole protection deployed
Gradeability, stowed 25%

1. Verify floor bearing capacity and local wheel loads

The 2,150 kg standard machine weight is not a floor-load approval. A floor must support the relevant loaded-machine conditions and concentrated loads at the wheels, not simply an average load spread across the machine’s overall footprint.

  • Ask the site’s responsible structural professional to assess slabs, suspended floors, basement roofs and other load-sensitive areas along the route and at the work position.
  • Obtain the applicable wheel-load and contact-pressure information for the supplied configuration before approving use on a load-sensitive floor.
  • Include occupants, tools and materials in the loading assessment. Keep platform loading within the 230 kg rated capacity and follow the specified occupancy limits.
  • Check trenches, service covers, drainage grilles, temporary coverings and loading edges individually. A sound surrounding floor does not establish their capacity.

Do not calculate wheel loads by simply dividing machine weight by four. Load distribution can vary with machine configuration and operating conditions. Do not treat unverified boards or plates as an approved load-spreading solution.

2. Inspect ground conditions and levelness

Assess both the travel route and the final operating area. Look for soft ground, loose material, damaged paving, wet or slippery surfaces, holes, steps and abrupt changes in level. These conditions require resolution before access or operation is approved.

Separate ramp access from elevated operation

The specified 25% stowed gradeability does not mean the platform may be raised on a 25% slope. Check ramp gradient, transitions, traction and the operating manual’s travel requirements separately from the levelness requirements for lifting.

Check low-clearance obstacles

Ground clearance is 0.08 m, reducing to 0.02 m with pothole protection deployed. Survey thresholds, floor joints, ramp transitions and protrusions rather than assuming that an obstacle below the nominal clearance can be crossed safely.

3. Measure doorways, corridors and turning areas

  • Measure the actual clear opening. Compare the 0.83 m machine width with the narrowest usable space between door leaves, frames, handles, barriers and temporary protection. An opening equal to the machine width provides no clearance margin.
  • Check overhead clearance. Compare route height with 2.38 m when the guardrails are unfolded or 2.01 m when folded. Include door closers, pipes, signs and changes in floor level. Follow the operating manual for folding and restoring guardrails; do not work at height with guardrails folded.
  • Review corners and approaches. Use the 2.45 m stowed length and 2.2 m outside turning radius as planning references. A turning-radius figure alone does not define the required corridor width or swept path.
  • Check the space at the work position. Allow for the platform and its 0.9 m extension, overhead obstructions, nearby structures and separation from pedestrians.

4. Complete a pre-delivery site handover

  1. Map the route: identify the unloading area, doorways, ramps, turns and intended operating positions.
  2. Record restrictions: measure clear widths and heights, and photograph thresholds, overhead obstacles and questionable surfaces.
  3. Resolve load questions: obtain site approval for floors, covers and any temporary access structures before the machine arrives.
  4. Prepare the work area: address surface defects and arrange appropriate pedestrian and traffic controls.
  5. Confirm machine-specific instructions: ensure trained personnel review the supplied manual, pre-use checks and site conditions before travel or lifting.

Common site-planning questions

Will the SSL-08HD fit through a doorway wider than 0.83 m?

Width is only one check. Confirm usable height, approach alignment, turning space, threshold conditions and adequate clearance around the machine. A nominal door size is not sufficient to approve passage.

Can floor suitability be confirmed from the 2,150 kg weight alone?

No. Floor approval must consider the relevant loaded conditions, local wheel loads and the structure beneath the surface. Obtain machine loading information and a site-specific structural assessment where required.

Can two people use the platform outdoors?

The specified maximum occupancy is two people indoors and one person outdoors. Outdoor use also requires confirmation of ground, weather and other operating limits in the supplied manual.

Discuss your SSL-08HD access requirements

Share your route measurements, site photographs, floor restrictions and intended work height with Onchtech, the equipment brand of Hunan Hongchang Machinery Co., Ltd. Request the relevant configuration details and loading information needed for your site review.

This checklist supports preliminary planning. Final access and operating decisions must follow the supplied machine documentation and the site’s structural and safety approvals.
