Calculate combined crew, tool and material loads, compare Onchtech SSL-16RT’s 680 kg rated capacity and four-person limit, and submit your task list for selection review.

Choosing an outdoor scissor lift starts with the complete working load—not just the number of people on the platform. For façade installation, steelwork, overhead services and other construction tasks, count the combined weight of personnel, tools, materials and all other equipment carried on the platform.

The Onchtech SSL-16RT rough-terrain scissor lift has a stated rated capacity of 680 kg and a maximum of four occupants. Both limits apply simultaneously. Staying within them is an initial selection check, not confirmation that the machine is suitable for every load arrangement or site condition.

Calculate the complete platform load

Prepare a load list for each stage of the job, including the heaviest planned combination of people and materials present at the same time. Use verified weights rather than estimates wherever possible.

Total planned platform load = personnel + tools + materials + other carried equipment.

Outdoor scissor lift load checklist
Load category What to include What to record
Personnel Every occupant, including worn protective equipment Combined weight and occupant count
Tools Hand tools, power tools, batteries and toolboxes Total weight carried at one time
Materials Panels, fittings, fasteners and other installation supplies Quantity, weight, dimensions and intended position
Other carried equipment Containers and any additional equipment placed on the platform Weight and proposed mounting or placement

Compare the combined total with the 680 kg rated capacity and check the four-person limit separately. Do not assume that fewer occupants permit a higher total load, or that a lighter total load permits more than four occupants.

Check load position—not only total weight

A load calculation does not establish whether a particular material arrangement is permitted. Large panels, concentrated loads and equipment positioned near the platform edge require review against the current operating manual and the supplied machine configuration.

  • Extension deck: SSL-16RT lists a 1.3 m sliding platform extension. The supplied specifications do not state its separate load rating. Do not treat the full 680 kg platform capacity as the permitted extension-deck load.
  • Load distribution: Record where people, tools and materials will be positioned. Confirm applicable distribution and concentrated-load restrictions before use.
  • Material dimensions: Identify bulky items and their proposed handling method. Platform dimensions alone do not establish approval for overhanging materials, racks or attachments.
  • Changing loads: Recheck the plan when crew size, tools, materials or their positions change during the task.

SSL-16RT specifications relevant to selection

Parameter Stated specification
Rated capacity / maximum occupants 680 kg / 4 people
Maximum platform height / working height 16 m / 18 m
Platform dimensions / sliding extension 4.2 m × 1.83 m / 1.3 m
Stowed length × width 4.88 m × 2.29 m
Stowed height: guardrails unfolded / folded 3.19 m / 2.63 m
Gradeability, stowed 40%
Ground clearance 0.2 m
Standard machine weight 8,830 kg
Engine options YANMAR / WEICHAI, subject to configuration confirmation

Specifications support preliminary selection. Confirm the current configuration, operating limits and documentation before purchase and use.

Match the load plan to outdoor site conditions

SSL-16RT is intended for outdoor applications such as façade installation, bridge and tunnel overhead work, industrial steelwork and municipal construction. Its rough-terrain design does not remove the need to assess the working surface and operating environment.

  • Ground support: Check the travel route and working area for adequate bearing capacity, voids, edges and unstable surfaces. Machine weight alone is not sufficient to determine local ground loading.
  • Slope and level: Confirm permitted operating inclinations and their directional definitions in the manual. The stated 40% gradeability applies to stowed travel; it is not an elevated-working slope allowance.
  • Wind exposure: Confirm the applicable wind limit and restrictions for the task. Large panels can increase wind exposure even when their weight is within capacity.
  • Access and operating restrictions: Review clearances, overhead obstructions, travel restrictions and engine-exhaust ventilation requirements, particularly for tunnel or partially enclosed work.

Common load-planning questions

Does 680 kg mean materials only?

No. Count personnel, tools, materials and all other carried equipment together. The maximum of four occupants also applies.

Can the full load be placed on the extension deck?

Do not assume so. A separate extension-deck capacity is not provided in the supplied specifications. Confirm the permitted deck load and distribution in the current manual for the supplied configuration.

Is a load below 680 kg enough to confirm suitability?

No. Occupant count, load position, platform elevation, ground conditions, wind exposure and operating restrictions must also be checked.

Send your task list for selection review

Onchtech, the complete-machine brand of Hunan Hongchang Machinery Co., Ltd., provides engineering machinery and OEM/ODM/OBM cooperation options. For an SSL-16RT selection discussion, prepare:

  • Required platform elevation and a description of the work.
  • Crew count and combined personnel weight, including protective equipment.
  • Tool, equipment and material weights, dimensions and maximum quantities carried together.
  • A proposed load-position sketch, including any extension-deck use.
  • Site surface, slopes, access dimensions, wind exposure and intended operating environment.

Contact Onchtech with this information to discuss the SSL-16RT configuration, outstanding operating-limit checks and quotation requirements. Final selection should be based on the confirmed machine specifications and a site-specific assessment.
