Onchtech Engineering Solution

Rough-Terrain Lifting Solution for Mountains, Heritage Sites and Remote Infrastructure

Onchtech provides crawler spider crane solutions for lifting heavy structural components in mountain construction, heritage restoration, water projects and remote infrastructure sites where steep slopes, narrow access and unstable ground restrict conventional cranes.

Lifting Challenges in Difficult-Access Environments

Cableway construction in mountain areas, restoration of historic structures, steep-slope water projects and steel bridge installation in remote regions often take place without paved access roads. Work zones may include slopes above 25 degrees, muddy or soft ground, stepped surfaces, narrow paths and confined cliff-edge locations. Conventional truck cranes and large transport vehicles may be unable to reach or establish safely at these sites.

  • Restricted Site Access

Narrow mountain tracks, steep gradients and muddy surfaces can prevent wheeled cranes and heavy transport trailers from reaching the lifting point.

  • Uneven Equipment Setup

Slopes, steps, pits and irregular ground make conventional outrigger placement difficult and increase the risk of instability if ground conditions are not properly assessed.

  • Unsafe Manual Handling

Historic timber beams, cableway structures and bridge components can weigh several tonnes. Manual handling is inefficient and exposes personnel to significant lifting and crushing hazards.

Onchtech Solution Logic

The Onchtech rough-terrain spider crane solution combines a crawler undercarriage, independently positioned outriggers, long-reach lifting geometry and remote operation. Its purpose is to move lifting capability closer to the workface while reducing dependence on wide paved access roads and large crane setup areas.

  1. 01. Reach the Work Zone Use crawler mobility to travel through narrow, muddy, sandy or steep access routes.
  2. 02. Establish Support Position and hydraulically support the outriggers according to the available ground profile and approved setup plan.
  3. 03. Lift Across Obstacles Apply up to 21–25 m lifting height and 18–23 m operating radius, depending on the selected model.
  4. 04. Operate from a Clear Position Use wireless remote control from a suitable observation point outside identified falling-object or slope-risk zones.

Core Solution Capabilities

Mobility

25° (36%) Gradeability and Crawler Travel

The diesel-powered crawler chassis is designed for steep approaches and low-quality access surfaces, including mud, sand and irregular terrain. Compact folded dimensions support movement through routes that are unsuitable for conventional truck cranes.

Stabilization

Independent Spider Outriggers

Four outriggers can be positioned to suit available space and variations in surface level. Hydraulic support enables equipment leveling on suitable prepared ground, subject to ground-bearing assessment, operating instructions and site safety controls.

Control

Wireless Remote Operation

Wireless control supports operation at distances of up to 100 m under suitable working conditions. The operator can select a position with a clearer view of the load path while remaining away from identified hazards.

Reach

Long Lifting Height and Operating Radius

The available models provide maximum lifting heights from 21 m to 25 m and maximum operating radii from 18 m to 23 m. This enables lifting over walls, vegetation, excavations and protected structures where direct equipment access is restricted.

Application Scenarios

  • Mountain cableway constructionTransporting and positioning tower sections and structural components along steep routes.
  • Heritage restorationHandling timber beams, stone elements and repair materials where access and site disturbance must be controlled.
  • Steep-slope water projectsLifting equipment and structural parts near embankments, channels and uneven water infrastructure sites.
  • Remote bridge constructionInstalling steel components at locations where large mobile cranes and transport vehicles cannot readily enter.
